Declaration of Accessibility
Accessibility Statement
General
This accessibility statement applies to the Trafi Ltd mobile applications: Ride for iOS and Ride for Android, available at https://apps.apple.com/om/app/ride-ncc/id6743409806 and https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.gov.nottinghamcity.ride, respectively. At Trafi Ltd, we believe that mobile applications should be accessible and convenient for all users. To this end, we have focused on implementing improvements guided by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.
Compliance Status
At the moment of writing, our mobile application is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially compliant means that some parts of the content do not fully comply with the accessibility standard (see below for further information).
The mobile applications are fully compliant with WCAG 2.1 level A.
Our mobile applications aim to comply with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. We have conducted thorough testing and continue to make improvements to enhance accessibility for all users. While we strive for full compliance, certain aspects of our applications may present challenges for some users, as detailed in the “Non-accessible Content” section below.
Preparation of the Statement
This statement was prepared on May 14, 2025. Our team conducted a comprehensive accessibility audit of both iOS and Android applications, using manual testing methodologies with native assistive technologies, including:
- Screen readers (VoiceOver for iOS, TalkBack for Android)
- Switch Control
- External keyboard navigation
Feedback
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our mobile applications. Users can provide feedback via support@rideeastmids.com.
Compatibility with Assistive Technology
Our applications are designed to work with native assistive technologies on iOS and Android platforms:
For iOS:
- VoiceOver screen reader
- Switch Control
- External keyboard navigation
- Display accommodations
For Android:
- TalkBack screen reader
- Switch Access
- External keyboard navigation
- Display settings
Accessibility Features
Our applications include the following accessibility features:
- Support for native platform text scaling
- Color contrast compliance for essential elements
- Proper labelling of interactive elements for screen readers
- Support for platform accessibility settings
- Keyboard and switch control navigation for critical functions
- Clear error identification and suggestions
- Consistent navigation patterns
Non-accessible Content
The following aspects of our applications may present accessibility challenges:
Interactive Maps
Our application uses interactive maps for core transportation functionality. While we have implemented basic accessibility features, the complex nature of map interactions presents inherent challenges for switch control and keyboard-only users. Due to technical limitations in map frameworks, some map functions may not be fully operable using only switch control or keyboard.
Alternative methods for accessing location-based services are provided where possible, including:
- Address search functionality
- List-based views of nearby transport options
- Text-based location information
We continue to work with map service providers to improve accessibility while researching alternative interaction methods.
Limited Device Orientation Support
Currently, our application primarily supports portrait orientation on both iOS and Android. This design decision was made to optimize the user experience for the majority of transportation-related tasks, which are typically performed while holding the device vertically.
We recognize this may present challenges for users who require landscape orientation. We are evaluating the implementation of responsive layouts that would support both orientations in future releases.
Planned Improvements
We are committed to continuously improving the accessibility of our mobile applications. Our accessibility roadmap includes:
- Enhanced keyboard and switch control support
- Improved focus management
- Better screen reader announcements for status changes
- Consistent text scaling support throughout all screens
- Additional alternative methods for map interaction
Additional Information
Our development team continues to receive training on mobile accessibility best practices, and we regularly test with assistive technologies to identify areas for improvement.
We are committed to ensuring that our mobile applications are accessible to all users and will continue to enhance accessibility features with each update.
